REQUEST ACCOUNT DELETION
TumaBoda allows riders and merchants to request deletion of their account and associated personal data.
How to request account deletion
To request deletion of your TumaBoda account, follow the steps below:
- Send an email to: privacy@tumaboda.co.ke
- Use the subject line: Delete My TumaBoda Account
- In the email body, include:
- Your registered phone number or email address
- Your account type (Rider or Merchant)
- A clear request to delete your account
Account verification
For security purposes, we will verify ownership of the account using the registered phone number or email address before processing the request.
Processing timeline
Account deletion requests are processed within 14 days.
You will receive confirmation once the deletion process is complete.
WHAT DATA IS DELETED
Once your account deletion request is completed, the following data is permanently deleted or anonymized:
- Name and profile information
- Phone number and email address
- Account credentials
- Rider or merchant account status
- Saved preferences and app identifiers linked to your account
This data is deleted within 30 days of request completion.
DATA RETAINED AFTER ACCOUNT DELETION
Some data must be retained to meet legal, regulatory, and compliance obligations.
The following data is retained after account deletion:
- Transaction and delivery records
- Financial and payment reconciliation records
Retention period
- Retained data is stored for up to 7 years
- Retained data is access-restricted and securely stored
- Retained data is not used for advertising or marketing
- Retained data is permanently deleted or anonymized after the retention period expires
LOCATION DATA
Location data is used only during active deliveries.
Historical location data is anonymized or aggregated after 12 months.
SUPPORT AND COMMUNICATION DATA
Customer support communications are retained for up to 24 months for quality assurance and dispute resolution.
DATA SECURITY
All personal data is protected using appropriate technical and organizational measures, including:
- Encryption in transit using HTTPS and TLS
- Role-based access controls
- Secure cloud infrastructure
- Regular security reviews
YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to:
- Request access to your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request the deletion of your account and personal data
- Withdraw consent where applicable
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC)
Requests are handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
